SINGAPORE — Some passengers who have booked premium economy seats with Singapore Airlines (SIA) for flights from Sep 9, 2015 to March 2016 may not be able to travel on that class.

In a statement issued on the airline's website today (Sep 3), SIA said Premium Economy will not be available for some confirmed bookings "due to delays in the seat installation programme".

"Singapore Airlines is working to complete the installation programme as quickly as possible," the statement said, adding that customers with ticketed bookings who are affected by the delays will be contacted by the airline or their travel agents to offer alternative travel arrangements.

Flights to Tokyo, Beijing, London and Sydney are among those affected.

Singapore Airlines launched its Premium Economy class in May 2015, and it is meant to serve as the middle ground between business and economy class. Premium Economy passengers will get an additional 5kg in baggage allowance over economy, more amenities, more spacious seats with better recline, as well as priority check-in and boarding.

The first flights to offer Premium economy seats started in August. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
