SINGAPORE — For the first time, a Singapore Airlines plane featuring a Singapore flag design will take part in the National Day Parade (NDP) flypast.

The Airbus A380 will make its flypast over the Marina Bay area at the closing of the Vintage Parade segment of the show on Aug 9. The segment will also feature 20 Singapore Girls on trishaws, meant as a throwback to the famous Singapore Airlines advertisements of the past.

The public will be able to catch the spectacle for the first time tomorrow (Aug 1) during the preview show.

Besides the 10m by 47m flag-themed design on both sides of the fuselage, the special livery will also carry the official SG50 logo on its inboard engines, as well as the NDP 2015 “Majulah Singapura — Our Golden Jubilee” logo on its underside.

Two such aircraft with the special livery will be serving passengers flying Beijing, Hong Kong, London, Mumbai, New Delhi, Shanghai, Sydney and Zurich routes through the end of this year.

“Singapore Airlines’ success is closely linked to that of Singapore’s and, like all Singaporeans, we look forward to celebrating the nation’s birthday on Aug 9,” said the airline’s CEO Goh Choon Phong in a media release yesterday.

“We are honoured to be participating in the National Day Parade during Singapore’s Golden Jubilee year, with the world’s largest passenger aircraft in the aerial flypast and our iconic Singapore Girl cabin crew in the Vintage Parade.”
