SINGAPORE — Singapore has raised its alert level in response to the Paris terrorist attacks. In a statement this morning, Minister for Home Affairs K Shanmugam said security measures, border checks and vigilance have been stepped up.

“These attacks (in Paris) show that no country is immune, even when there is a state of heightened security”, he said.

Mr Shanmugam asked all Singaporeans to play a part in keeping Singapore safe and secure. He encouraged everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or persons to the authorities.

“Such attacks aim to strike fear in the community.

“We must therefore continue to build up our social resilience,” he said.

This will also ensure Singapore will stand together, recover quickly and emerge stronger and more united should an incident occur here, he added.

Mr Shanmugam offered his deepest sympathies to the victims, families and loved ones of the Paris attacks.
