SINGAPORE — The Republic is “deeply concerned by the security situation in Egypt” and calls on “all parties to exercise restraint and refrain from further violence”, said Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) today (Aug 15)
In response to media queries regarding the violence in Egypt, a MFA spokesman said: “It is even more critical now for the parties to work together to find a peaceful solution for the sake of all Egyptians.”
The MFA has advised Singaporeans in Egypt to abide by the curfew hours of 7pm to 6am (Egypt time), and to be on high alert and take the necessary precautions for their personal safety. This includes monitoring the news closely, observing instructions from local authorities and avoiding areas of public disturbances.
The Singapore Embassy in Cairo will work with the Egyptian authorities to ensure the safety of Singaporeans, said the MFA spokesman.
Singaporeans who have not already e-registered with MFA, should do so immediately at http://eregister.mfa.gov.sg/.
