SINGAPORE — In celebration of the Chinese New Year, Singtel postpaid mobile customers will get free unlimited local data on Thursday (Feb 19), the telco announced today.

“From midnight till 11.59 pm, customers can stream videos, download apps and surf the web to their heart’s content,” said the telco, as it also announced the launch of a new contract-free postpaid data SIM plan.

The first such plan in Singapore, it costs S$19.90 per month and offers 2GB of monthly bundled data and unlimited Singtel WiFi access until July 31 this year, after which it will be capped at 2GB.

It is only available for Singaporeans and PRs.

To purchase the Data SIM card, customers pre-pay the subscription fee for the first month and call the Singtel hotline to activate the card. A monthly statement will subsequently be sent to their billing address.

In a press release issued today (Feb 13), the telco said this gives customers greater flexibility as there is no contract term.

The no-contract postpaid data SIM plan is launched in collaboration with Challenger Technologies, and will be available from tomorrow. At the moment, customers will only be able to get their Data SIM card over the counter at 44 Challenger Technologies’s Challenger, Valore and Musica stores.
