'Siri, pay Peter $100'
SINGAPORE — A voice command is apparently all it takes for OCBC Bank customers to send money to their friends and family.
SINGAPORE — A voice command is apparently all it takes for OCBC Bank customers to send money to their friends and family.
In a statement on Friday (Oct 28), the bank said its new service integrates its OCBC Pay Anyone app with Apple's virtual assistant, Siri, and iMessage instant messaging platform.
Customers simply have to tell Siri whom to send the payment to and how much they want to send. They can also send funds to someone they are directly chatting with on iMessage – without having to leave the conversation by closing the messaging app or opening another app.
Once payment details are confirmed, the transaction is completed on OCBC's Pay Anyone app.
The Siri and iMessage services are available to those using iPhone devices running the iOS10 software and the latest version of the OCBC Mobile Banking app.
Launched in 2014, OCBC Pay Anyone is the only account-to-account mobile payment service offered by any bank in Singapore that does not require the sender to know the recipient’s bank account details in order to make payment.
According to the bank, the payments are fully secure as they are authenticated by the customer using their mobile banking credentials.
