SINGAPORE — Singaporeans can get their hands on free copies of a sketch book depicting artists’ memories of the Republic, from next month.
The book - Urban Sketches Singapore Vol 2 - is part of 74 projects funded by the Singapore Memory Project. More than 80 artists from hobby group Urban Sketchers will contribute to the book, which will feature about 300 sketches of locations across the island.
The group’s founder, known as Tia, said artists can choose from a list of geographical locations and contribute their own memories through sketches. The list ensures all parts of Singapore are included in the book.
Members of public can get free copies of the book at the group’s book launch, slated for mid-May. The copies will also be available for loan at all public libraries.
Another initiative launched under the Singapore Memory Project is an app called Jalan Jalan, which allows users to read about the history of places in Singapore. They can also contribute their memories of places, via the app. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
