SINGAPORE — A snatch thief who preyed on a pregnant woman has been arrested by the police.

The 31-year-old man had struck on Friday (April 29), the police stated in a press release on Saturday.

The victim said that she was about to exit the lift at Block 35 Bedok South Avenue 2 when the man tried to snatch her purse. However, he fled when she shouted for help.

The police said they were able to establish the suspect’s identity after reviewing police camera footage, and he was apprehended on Saturday at Tampines MRT.

The suspect will be charged in Court on May 1 for Attempted Snatch Theft, a crime punishable with a jail term of a year to 7 years, and caning.
