SINGAPORE — The Singapore Red Cross (SRC) will be increasing its initial contribution of S$50,000 to S$200,000, it said in statement this evening (April 28).

The funds will be used for relief items and emergency supplies, including household kits and shelter tool kits, and will be dispatched in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

And as of 5pm today (April 28), SRC has received more than S$200,000 in donations from the public.

SRC’S Advance Team will arrive in Nepal midday tomorrow (April 29) and will be linking up with Nepal Red Cross and other Red Cross Movement partners.

They will assess medical needs and logistical considerations and provide emergency medical services to ascertain locations and communities before deciding on how medical teams will be deployed.

Water and sanitation will also be looked into, as well as the logistical challenges on the ground. SRC will then decide the next step to be carried out in support of the relief efforts.
