SINGAPORE — The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has suspended travel agency A D Travel from conducting travel agent activities, with effect from today (July 30), until further notice.
The STB said in a statement that it had suspended the agency as the company had failed to meet the minimum financial requirements as mandated under the Travel Agents Regulations. It added that it had also received complaints about the agency’s inability to settle agreed refunds.
During the period of suspension, A D Travel is required to fulfil its existing obligations to its customers, but will not be allowed to accept new travel bookings.
Last month, the STB announced that all licensed travel agents will have to record their outbound customers’ decision on whether to buy travel insurance that covers the agent’s insolvency.
This was aimed at educating customers on measures to protect their interests when making travel bookings. It was introduced in the wake of the sudden closure of Asia-Euro Holidays in May, which affected hundreds of customers.
The STB said an up-to-date list of licensed travel agents in Singapore is available at the Travel Related Users’ System (TRUST) website at https://trust.yoursingapore.com.
