Students celebrate Kindness Day SG

SINGAPORE — Students from primary schools to pre-university institutions across Singapore celebrated Kindness Day SG with a host of fun activities today (May 30).

Students from West View Primary School challenged themselves to acts of kindness with board games and also engaged in a dialogue on what kindness is; they even prepared and distributed sandwiches for others.

Even though it was the last day of school before the June holidays, the Singapore Kindness Movement hopes their good deeds and kind acts will not end there.

Schools were given teaching and learning resources for students to spread the message of kindness throughout the June holidays.

“Kindness to me means to show care to everyone and not to only think of yourself, but to think of others too,” said Lian Jun Hao, a primary six student from West View Primary School. “So, in any way which you can help other people, just go ahead and help them.”

Education Minister Heng Swee Keat was at West View Primary School to officially launch Kindness Day SG.

“There will always be occasional acts where people are unkind and ungracious and it is, therefore, always a work in progress,” said Mr Heng. “I would say that that’s why it is important to constantly remind ourselves that however good we are, we can always be better.” CHANNEL NEWSASIA
