SINGAPORE — The two men involved in a fight at Golden Mile Complex on Wednesday (Oct 11) were apparently strangers who engaged in a staring incident as one was coming out of the toilet and the other was walking in.
TODAY understands the alleged aggressor was a 22-year-old cook who, according to the police, will be charged in court on Monday (Oct 16) with voluntarily causing grievous hurt.
A video of him stomping repeatedly on the victim as the latter lay curled up on the floor outside a shop in the commercial and residential complex went viral in the wake of the incident.
The suspect was arrested on Saturday night.
On Sunday, he was taken back to the scene in restraints for about 15 minutes. Clad in a light-coloured sweater and dark pants, he was questioned as he was taken to several areas on the ground floor of the building.
Investigations are ongoing, the police said.
The victim, believed to be a 25-year-old Singaporean, has been discharged from Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was said to have head and facial injuries.
