Suspect in Woodlands hit-and-run accident arrested in Malaysia

SINGAPORE — The police have arrested a 37-year-old driver who fled to Malaysia after being involved in a hit-and-run accident in Woodlands that killed an 80-year old pedestrian.

SINGAPORE — The police have arrested a 37-year-old driver who fled to Malaysia after being involved in a hit-and-run accident in Woodlands that killed an 80-year old pedestrian.


The accident took place at a pedestrian crossing along the junction of Woodlands Ave 7 and Woodlands Ave 2 at about 11pm on July 9 last year.

The elderly pedestrian died a week later of his injuries.


The suspect was arrested in Malaysia on Wednesday (Feb 15) with help from the Royal Malaysia Police, the police said in a statement on Friday (Feb 17).


He will be charged on Friday with causing death by a negligent act. If convicted, he could be jailed for up to two years, fined, or both.
