SSINGAPORE — Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) has dismissed staff member Mr Ello Ed Mundsel Bello for his “offensive comments” made last year, according to a statement released by the hospital today (Jan 9).

Mr Bello had made three posts online via comments using his Facebook and Google Plus accounts that pertained to race and religion. Following a review, the comments were deemed “highly irresponsible and offensive to Singapore and religion”, the hospital said.

They said: “His conduct goes against our staff values of respect, professionalism and social responsibility”.

“As a public healthcare institution, we take a very serious view and have zero tolerance on conduct that is offensive and detrimental to multi-cultural harmony in Singapore,” the hospital’s statement added.

TTSH said the decision on the dismissal is “independent of the ongoing police investigation of the more recent alleged posts made in January 2015”.

According to TTSH, Mr Bello had joined the hospital in October last year and had been under probation.
