Temasek Cares to distribute free N95 masks to households

Temasek Cares, the philanthropic arm of Temasek Holdings, will be distributing free N95 masks to all households here as part of a community programme to get Singaporeans better prepared for emergencies. About 1.2 million households will receive the masks as part of a “Stay Prepared” starter kit in their mailboxes from today to May 12.

It is hoped that the starter kits — each containing three 3M masks and useful numbers to call in case of an emergency — will spur Singaporeans to be better prepared in the event of a flu pandemic or severe haze. “We hope the kits will prompt individuals and families to develop their own emergency plans,” said Temasek Cares chairman Richard Magnus.

Another 17,000 starter kits will be delivered to 144 charity homes and 300,000 more will be prepared as reserves.

The kits will be distributed by SingPost, as well as Singapore Power meter readers and technicians for a week from today. This emergency starter kit initiative taps into a S$40 million Temasek Emergency Preparedness Fund launched in March. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
