Former wife of alleged match-fixing kingpin Dan Tan expected to be sentenced
The ex-wife of alleged match-fixing kingpin Dan Tan is expected to be sentenced on Monday, after a judge last week found her guilty of giving false information to a Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) investigator over two laptops said to belong to Tan. Guan Enmei had insisted that she had never been asked about the laptops during questioning by CPIB, but convicting her last week, District Judge Lee Poh Choo said Guan lacked credibility and had lied to throw investigations into Tan off course.
M’sia to host two-day meeting with Australia, China
Malaysia will host a two-day meeting with Australia and China on Monday to chart the future direction of the search operation for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 which went missing over two years ago and is believed to have crashed into the Indian Ocean with 239 people onboard. The three countries have said previously they will call off search for the aircraft if nothing is found in the designated search area of the Indian Ocean. So far 105,000sq km of the 120,000sq km seafloor search zone has been searched without success.
Indonesia’s Transportation ministry to conduct inspection at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport’s new terminal
Indonesia’s Transportation ministry will conduct an inspection at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport’s new terminal on Monday to determine a new opening date after earlier checks showed that it was unfit for operation. The S$475 million Terminal 3 Ultimate was originally scheduled to be opened to travellers on Monday but this has been postponed by at least two weeks until its problems — which includes lack of baggage signages and standby generators that failed to work during blackouts — are resolved.
Euro 2016: Slovakia, Russia and Wales
With England’s place in the knock-out stages of Euro 2016 more or less assured, the battle to advance from Group B is now between Slovakia, Russia and Wales. All three teams need to win their final group matches to guarantee their place in the Round of 16. Slovakia will face England who are likely to start with Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy who both scored from the bench last week against Wales. Meanwhile, Wales, driven by thoughts of advancing into the knockout stages in their first ever European Championship outing, take on a Russia side demoralised by their loss to Slovakia. Both matches are at 2.50am, Wednesday morning.
