United States Secretary of State John Kerry will meet European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini in Brussels and British Foreign Minister Philip Hammond in London today to assure them of continued US engagement with the EU and United Kingdom despite Britain’s decision to leave the EU.

Sentencing for para-athlete who recruited women into prostitution

Former national para-athlete Adam Kamis will return to court today, where he is expected to be sentenced for recruiting 15 women for prostitution. The 37-year-old, who lost his right arm in a motorcycle accident in 2003 and became popularly known as “AdamOnearmrunner”, was convicted last week of 11 counts of procuring or attempting to procure women for prostitution. He was also found guilty of one other charge under the Prevention of Human Trafficking Act for sexually exploiting a 16-year-old girl.

Malaysian Cabinet reshuffle expected

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak is expected to announce a new Cabinet today in a reshuffle to fill vacant positions. The reshuffle might involve up to four ministers and three deputy ministers, The Star newspaper reported. Those affected by the reshuffle have been notified to get ready to be sworn in before the Malaysian King following the announcement by Mr Najib.

Joint Thailand-US military exercise

Thai and United States troops will today kick off a two-week long joint military exercise in the Central Thai provinces of Saraburi and Lop Buri. Exercise Hanuman Guardian 2016 will see 748 Thai soldiers and 429 American troops take part in search and rescue operations, medical training and engineering drills.

Singapore Athletics AGM

A new chapter in Singapore Athletics’ (SA) history will be written this evening when the 21 affiliates of the national track and field body elects the association’s new management committee at its Annual General Meeting (AGM). The battle to lead the SA as president will be fought between lawyer Edmond Pereira and current honorary secretary Ho Mun Cheong. Both men have also assembled their respective teams to compete for the remaining 10 positions in the committee.

Euro 2016: Spain VS Italy

Spain have vowed to stick to their acclaimed “tiki-taka” passing game to try to break through Italy’s equally famous defence in the round of 16 of the European Championship on Monday. Facing one of the best backlines at Euro 2016, Spain say they will stay patient and keep the ball for as long as needed to create scoring chances against its old rival in tonight’s Euro2016 Round-of-16 match at Stade de France.
