Asean ministers' meeting to discuss North Korea
Asean foreign ministers’ meeting draws to a close on Tuesday where they will meet with their counterparts at the Asean Regional Forum (ARF) in Vientiane, Laos. North Korea will be among the 27 countries attending the ARF where Pyongyang’s nuclear programme is expected to be discussed at the forum.
Kerry to meet Duterte
United States Secretary of State John Kerry will meet with Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte and Secretary of Foreign Affairs Perfecto Yasay on Tuesday to boost bilateral ties between the two countries. The Philippines is US’ treaty ally. Mr Kerry’s visit to the Philippines will make him the first US administration official to meet with Mr Duterte since he was sworn in on July 1.
Industrial production figures expected to show slight drop
Singapore’s industrial production data for June is due to be released at 1pm. Industrial output is expected to have fallen 0.2 per cent year-on-year in June, according to a Reuters poll. That would be the first contraction since February, when output fell 3.6 per cent. In May, industrial production rose 0.9 per cent from a year earlier. On a month-on-month and seasonally adjusted basis, manufacturing output in June was forecast to have shrunk 2.5 per cent after contracting 0.4 per cent in May as shipments to China and Europe continued to contract.
Singapore League Cup sees ‘clash of the titans’
It’s a clash of the local football giants as Albirex Niigata take on Tampines Rovers at Jurong East Stadium for the Singapore League Cup semi-final. The match kicks off at 7.30pm.
