Bukit Batok by-election: SDP holds 3rd rally

The Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) will be holding its third rally of the Bukit Batok by-election at 7pm today at the field along Bukit Batok Industrial Park A, as the parties count down to Polling Day this Saturday. The SDP and the People’s Action Party have three days left to campaign before Cooling Off Day on Friday.

COE bidding begins

The first Certificate of Entitlement (COE) bidding exercise of the month begins today at noon, and will end on Thursday at 4pm. A total of 5,061 COEs will be up for grabs in this exercise.

Australia presents its budget

Australia will table its budget today which lays out Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s economic plan aimed at driving the economy and creating jobs. Mr Turnbull faces a tough task to balance the need to stimulate a resources-heavy economy as it exits an unprecedented mining investment boom with calls to rein in the budget deficit and government debt. The budget is also seen as a key test for Mr Turnbull’s leadership, ahead of a national election which is widely expected in July.

US presidential race: Indiana primary results

Mr Donald Trump will hope for a decisive victory today in the Indiana primary which will put him within touching distance of being the Republican United States presidential nominee. Both the Republican and Democratic primaries will be held in the midwestern state today. Latest opinion polls showed Mr Trump leading in the state, over his nearest rivals, US Senator Ted Cruz and Ohio governor John Kasich. Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton is also expected to sail through the Democratic primary.

Bayern Munich are desperate to avoid losing a third consecutive Champions League semi-final to Spanish opponents when they host Atletico Madrid tonight.

Squash finals: NJC vs HCI

The National Schools A Division Boys Squash Finals between National Junior College and Hwa Chong Institution will take place at the Kallang Squash Court at 1pm.

Weather forecast

Warm conditions with thundery showers are expected mainly over northern, eastern and western Singapore in the late afternoon. Temperatures will likely range between 25°C and 35°C.
