SINGAPORE — Two men, aged 25 and 26, will be charged in court on Thursday for dangerous driving and taking part in an unauthorised speed trial, the police said yesterday.

The two were arrested during enforcement operations conducted by the Traffic Police at a hot spot for dangerous driving along Seletar Link earlier this year, the police said in a statement.

“Subsequent investigations revealed that one of the men had driven his car at a speed of approximately 140kmh, which exceeded the road speed limit of 60kmh,” the policeadded.

If convicted for dangerous driving, the men may each face a fine of up to S$3,000, a maximum of 12 months in jail, or both.

If they are found to be repeat offenders, they may each be fined up to S$5,000 or sentenced to two years’ jail, or both.

Taking part in an unauthorised speed trial is punishable by up to six months in jail and a maximum S$2,000 fine. Repeat offenders may be jailed up to 12 months and fined no more than S$3,000.

Police said that the vehicles involved in this offence may also be liable for forfeiture. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
