ROMPIN — Two Singaporeans yesterday (Sept 7) drowned while diving at Pantai Air Batang, Tioman, reported The Star.
The incident occurred at about noon. The victims were aged 35 and 48.
“Initial investigation showed both victims and a woman were in a group diving in the site about 25m from the shores,” ASP Zainul Mujahidin was reported as saying. “One of them was a diving instructor and the other his student.”
The woman reportedly spotted the two men having difficulties and waved for help. A group of divers nearby rushed to help and brought the victims to shore.
Deputy OCPD Asst Supt Zainul Mujahidin Mat Yudin was reported saying that cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed on the victims but they already turned pale and not breathing.
Both victims were confirmed dead and police were alerted. The case had been classified as sudden death and the remains had been sent for a post-mortem. AGENCIES
