SINGAPORE – The Yale-National University of Singapore (NUS) College has kick-started a five-day Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) Bootcamp, aimed at educating the university’s undergraduates on working in NGOs.

About 50 students, both from Yale-NUS and other NUS faculties, will get to work with professionals from more than 10 local and regional NGOs in the corporate and entrepreneur sectors in the inaugural bootcamp.

These NGOs include the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre, the Association of Women for Action and Research as well as World Relief, an international NGO that assists poverty and disaster victims.

Students will be taught essential skills and knowledge required for working in the non-profit sector through workshop-style programmes, seminars and case studies.

Seventeen student participants from Yale-NUS will also begin summer internships with NGOs after the bootcamp, which runs until May 18.
