SINGAPORE — Unique pet breeds will be showcased for the first time at this year’s Pet Expo, including the Chinese Crested dog, Bedlington Terrier, Alaskan Klee Kai, and the Bengal Cat.

Also at the fair will be the Leonberger, Bernese Mountain Dog, Newfoundland and a Tea-cup Poodle, barely the height of a water bottle.

The second edition of the fair, organised by MP Singapore, will take place this weekend, March 20 - 22, at Singapore Expo Hall 8.

As part of the event’s social campaign, Pet Expo is partnering with 19 pet associations and welfare groups to promote pet adoption and to create awareness on pet abandonment. Pet adoption and fundraising, among other activities, will be taking place at their booths. There will also be a Speed Dating Adoption activity at the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore’s booth.

To educate pet owners and animal lovers, there will be seminars, practical workshops and activities categorised into three broad sections: Educational, Social, and Entertainment. There will also be contests for dogs, guinea pigs and cats. Blogger Xiaxue, who will be at the fair with her Holland Lop rabbit, will be judging the contest for the fluffiest rabbit.

Last year, Pet Expo created a record for the largest gathering of Golden Retrievers in Singapore. This Saturday, it will try to create a record for the largest gathering of local mixed breed dogs.
