The station names were shortlisted from over 1,000 suggestions received for an earlier station naming exercise conducted between April and May this year, the LTA said in a statement today (Oct 1).

The shortlisted names, approved by the Street and Building Names Board (SBNB), were chosen based on the following criteria: Identify the location readily so that all commuters can easily remember the names and identify the area of the station; illustrate the history and heritage of the station surroundings if relevant; and reflect the multi-racial, multi-cultural character of Singapore if possible.
