Bukit Batok by-election: 83% of registered electors have cast their votes

SINGAPORE — As of 5pm on Saturday (May 7), some 12,303 people (47 per cent of registered voters) have cast their votes in the Bukit Batok by-election, according to a statement from the Elections Department.

SINGAPORE —  As of 5pm on Saturday (May 7), some 21,566 people (83 per cent of registered voters) have cast their votes in the Bukit Batok by-election, according to a statement from the Elections Department. 

There are 25,727 eligible voters in the ‪Bukit Batok‬ single member ward who will be picking a new Member of Parliament to replace Mr David Ong, who resigned abruptly in March. 

This by-election is a straight fight between Mr Murali Pillai of the People's Action Party and Dr Chee Soon Juan of the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP).

Polls will close at 8pm.
