Warmer, drier weather in S’pore over the weekend
SINGAPORE — A low-pressure system over southern Thailand led to a rise in temperatures here over the weekend, with a high of 35.1°C recorded at Sembawang at 3pm on Monday (Jan 9), the National Environmental Agency (NEA) said in a media release.

SINGAPORE — A low-pressure system over southern Thailand led to a rise in temperatures here over the weekend, with a high of 35.1°C recorded at Sembawang at 3pm on Monday (Jan 9), the National Environmental Agency (NEA) said in a media release.
This came after a warm and dry weekend, where temperatures soared to 34.5°C at Ang Mo Kio on Sunday.
The low-pressure system over Thailand drew in moisture from the surrounding region, resulting in fewer clouds and warmer temperatures here, the agency explained. Temperatures above 33°C were recorded at some weather stations across the island over the weekend.
However, the hot weather is expected to cool off in the coming days, with the return of localised thundery showers in the afternoon.
