SINGAPORE — Residents at Block 147 Toa Payoh Lorong 2 were left without water for nearly four hours on Monday evening (Feb 13) due to a water pump defect.

Mediacorp hotline caller Joel Goh told TODAY that residents had to head to a nearby multi-purpose hall to collect water, carrying buckets to-and-from their homes.

The water outage started at around 5.30pm and ended at around 9.10pm, Mr Goh said.

Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC Member of Parliament Saktiandi Supaat told TODAY that there had been a defect in the starter pump in the pump room at the ground floor of the block.

During this time, the town council provided water from an alternative source in the linkhall to residents.

The defective pump will be replaced early Tuesday morning, and water from the rooftop water tanks are currently being channelled to residents’ homes via a bypass route as a temporary measure.
