Water supply cut off for 60 households in Marine Parade for several hours

SINGAPORE — A faulty pump panel relay left 60 households in the Marine Parade constituency without any access to water for more than three hours this afternoon (April 22).

SINGAPORE — A faulty pump panel relay left 60 households in the Marine Parade constituency without any access to water for more than three hours this afternoon (April 22).

According to a statement issued by the Marine Parade Town Council, the management was notified of the problem at around 2pm and deployed officers and a contractor to the affected block — Block 123 at Geylang East Central Avenue 1 — to investigate.

“We noticed that the pump panel relay was faulty and the relay was replaced immediately,” the town council said. The water supply was reconnected at 5pm.

A hotline caller who alerted TODAY to the water disruption however, said that the problem had surfaced since 11am. The caller, a resident living in the affected block, said he tried to contacting various authorities — PUB, EM Services and the Marine Parade Town Council — but his calls were not answered.

While the caller, who declined to be named, noted that this was the first time the block experienced a water disruption, he felt that more could be done by authorities to inform affected residents of the predicament and provide alternative water supplies.

“Up to now, there is no water truck sent down...and I tried to call the town council many times, but no one picked up,” said the caller when TODAY spoke to him at around 4pm.
