Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong was at the event at the Toa Payoh HDB Hub to watch the finals of the Ladies Open, Under-14 Boys, Under-17 Boys and Men’s Open categories.

The Lee Hsien Loong Challenge Trophy was launched in 1995 and is now into its 19th year.

One of the oldest participants in the tournament’s history is 57-year-old Maimun Abdul Wahab, who was a member of the Singapore Women Football Association between 1975 and 1995.

Said Mdm Maimun: “I just want to keep fit (and) enjoy my soccer because (it) is my passion. Age doesn’t matter. If you like soccer, you play.”

The winners walked away with cash prizes of S$2,000 and S$1,000.
