Worker falls and dies at construction site along Sembawang Road on Friday

SINGAPORE – A construction worker fell over the edge of a building at a residential construction site and died on Friday (July 14).

SINGAPORE – A construction worker fell over the edge of a building at a residential construction site and died on Friday (July 14).

The 41 year-old worker was supervising a group of three other workers who were preparing to receive a prefabricated bathroom unit for installation when he fell, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said in a statement on Saturday.

Police were alerted to the incident at 1.47pm on Friday. The man was found lying motionless on the ground and paramedics at the scene pronounced him dead.

The China national was employed by Zong Yang Pte Ltd, and the main contractor is Qingdao Construction (Singapore) Pte Ltd.

Police and MOM are currently investigating the incident.

The incident was the second worksite fatality on Friday.

In a separate accident on the same day, one worker died and 10 others were injured when an uncompleted bridge structure linking the Tampines Expressway (TPE) to the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) collapsed early on Friday morning.
