SINGAPORE — A man in his 20s was badly injured after he fell through a Housing Development Board (HDB) rubbish chute at Block 8 Jalan Rumah Tinggi on Saturday (Oct 8).

According to a social media user, the man was doing painting work at the building.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the incident at 10.10am.

Upon arrival, SCDF rescuers found the victim inside a one man cage inside the rubbish chute on the ground floor.

A hydraulic cutter was to free the man from the cage, said the SCDF. He was later conveyed to the National University Hospital (NUH), where medical staff were alerted to be on standby to receive the patient.
