Singlish emoji app launched

A Singlish emoji keypad called SINmoji has been launched, and can be used across platforms such as iMessage, , WhatsApp, Facebook, WeChat and Line.

SINGAPORE - A Singlish emoji keypad called SINmoji has been launched in the App store last week by Singaporean web company XVision. Describing itself as "the only and best, most shiok" Emoji-Singlish keypad, it allows users to use Singlish emojis and terms such as "cheem", "bagus" and "on ah".

The SINmoji keyboard can be used on most platforms including iMessage, WhatsApp, Facebook, WeChat, Line, as well as the new iMessage sticker app that works with the latest iOS 10. Its developer Johnny Ixe said it took nearly a month and many sleepless nights to develop SINmoji. "Emoji is the new language of our iPhone/mobile generation. Even Apple is adding greater emoji support into its latest software," explained Ixe, adding that he wanted to combine Singaporeans' love for Singlish and emojis in an easy way.

The current 1.0 version has more than 70 emoji stickers and phrase. Ixe is currently in the process of adding more Singlish emojis in version 2.0 with phrases related to our national hobbies of shopping and eating, and revolving around food. There are also plans to launch an Android version of the app once version 1.0 takes off.

SINmoji is priced at S$1.48, and is available for download from the App store.
