SINGAPORE — The six halls at the Singapore Sports Hub’s OCBC Arena will be buzzing with activity tomorrow when the Sports Hub holds the third edition of its Community Play Day.
The event will feature more than 20 sporting stations that will allow the public to try their hand at various sports. These include netball, tag-rugby, badminton, speedminton, table tennis, athletics, tennis and aikido, to name a few.
Ensuring something for everyone, the Sports Hub will also be organising family-friendly activities such as a Christmas Photobooth, Christmas Handicraft Workshops and a family-fun carnival.
Culture, Community and Youth Minister Grace Fu will be the guest of honour, and will take part in the Christmas Zumba warm-up led by SportCares youth at 9am.
Families will also get to meet Team Singapore’s national athletes and para-athletes who will be providing quick lessons and tips on their respective sports.
Singapore Sports Hub chief executive officer Manu Sawhney is hoping to draw more than 10,000 people.
The previous two Community Play Days drew over 25,000 participants.
Encouraging members of the public to join in the fun at the S$1.3 billion facility, he said: “The occasion is a great way for Singaporeans and the community at large to learn new or different sports in one place, and come together in a celebration of an active, sporting lifestyle.
“More than 25,000 participants have already experienced a Sports Hub Community Play Day, and we are excited to present this edition — in partnership with various National Sporting Associations and SportSG including Active SG and SportCares — to new and returning participants.”
