Asian Games: Joseph Schooling wins first medal for male swimming in 24 years

SINGAPORE – Joseph Schooling has won Singapore’s first medal in a male swimming event at the Asiad in 24 years. He clinched the bronze medal in the men’s 200m butterfly final at the Incheon Asian Games with a time of 1min 57.54sec. Japan’s Seto Daiya won the gold medal in 1:54.08, with compatriot Kenta Hirai taking silver in 1:55.47. Legendary former local swimmer Ang Peng Siong won an Asiad medal for male swimming in the 1990 Beijing Games. He won silver in the 50m freestyle event.
