Bartoli heading to Singapore

SINGAPORE — Retired French star Marion Bartoli (picture) will feature in the inaugural Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Legends Event at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals in Singapore, to be held at the Singapore Sports Hub from Oct 17 to 26.

SINGAPORE — Retired French star Marion Bartoli (picture) will feature in the inaugural Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Legends Event at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals in Singapore, to be held at the Singapore Sports Hub from Oct 17 to 26.

The 29-year-old, who won Wimbledon last year, joins Martina Navratilova and Tracy Austin in the four-player field, with the participation of another legend expected to be announced soon. They will play three best-of-three set doubles matches in the round robin, rotating partners. The player with the most points wins.

The WTA Finals, which will be staged annually in Singapore until 2018, will feature eight of the top-ranked players in singles and doubles matches.
