SINGAPORE — The Basketball Association of Singapore (BAS) inked a two-year sponsorship with local Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) firm Kin Teck Tong (KTT) on Friday (Feb 19). It will see Singapore’s national basketball players receive free TCM services as an alternative treatment option for sports-related injuries.
The deal — estimated to be worth about S$200,000 — will also see KTT appointed as the BAS’ exclusive TCM Partner.
Under this partnership, up to 60 national cagers will be allowed access to the range of services provided by KTT — which includes acupuncture, cupping and massage — with each player able to claim up to S$1,000 worth of treatment annually.
The various national age-group players, as well as BAS committee members, referees and coaches, will also be able to utilise these services at concessionary rates.
“This new partnership with Kin Teck Tong is in line with the BAS’ holistic approach towards caring for the well-being of its national players,” said BAS honorary secretary Ong Swee Teck. “We believe that with KTT’s services, our basketballers will be able to receive the help they need in recovering from long-term sports injuries.
“This would then help them be more focused on training and playing for Singapore in international tournaments. We have confidence in what KTT is doing and in return, our players will be encouraged to assist them in their marketing efforts.”
This deal comes only two months after KTT announced a similar one-year agreement worth about S$280,000 with Singapore Athletics (SA).
“We feel honoured and happy that Kin Teck Tong has yet again secured a partnership with another major NSA in two months,” said Coco Zhang, executive director of KTT. “This partnership is testament to our relentless effort to reach out to different market segments who might appreciate pain management the TCM way, and we are glad to be working with BAS, to bring pain relief to the national players.”
