SINGAPORE –The Extreme Sailing Series world tour returns to Singapore next year, with the first of eight legs across three continents to be hosted at the Marina Bay from Feb 5 to 8.

Global asset management company Aberdeen Asset Management will continue its support of the extreme sailing event as the local Event Main Partner, and details of a local team will be announced at a later date.

Sailing fans were treated to a thrilling race at Marina earlier this year, with the 2014 edition in Singapore featuring a star-studded field that included the likes of four-time Olympic sailing champion Ben Ainslie, defending champions The Wave, Muscat’s British double Olympic gold medallist Sarah Ayton, J P Morgan BAR’s Olympic champion Pippa Wilson and Emirates Team New Zealand skipper Dean Barker. Switzerland’s Team Alinghi emerged the overall winner of the Exreme Sailing Series 2014 Singapore leg with a total of 217 points over four days of racing. Alinghi currently occupy top spot among the 11 teams after four legs of the 2014 season, with the tussle for the overall championship title to be decided in the remaining regattas in Cardiff, Istanbul, Nice, and Sydney from August to December.

Marina Bay is the perfect environment in which to showcase this elite form of sailing, The brand exposure is very strong and we are excited to be associated with the event again next year.”
