SINGAPORE — National Football League (NFL) side Admiralty FC came from a goal down to beat Singapore Recreation Club (SRC) 3-1 to win themselves a place in the 2013 StarHub League Cup.

A goal area mix-up gifted the opening goal to SRC’s Shaiful Fauzi in the 20th min but Admiralty levelled terms with a Jonathan Xu back-header just before half-time.

Second-half goals from Guntur Djafril and Haziq Sudhir sealed victory for Admiralty, who also had Mahmod Hashim sent off for a wild tackle on Ali Imran Lomri.

A draw following yesterday’s match at the Jalan Besar Stadium saw the amateur side grouped with neighbours Woodlands Wellington, Home United and Harimau Muda.

Said S-League Chief Executive Officer Lim Chin: “This is a good opportunity for the NFL to experience a professional level of football, which will aid in their long-term development.” The League Cup will kick off next month. PHILIP GOH
