British soccer teams could be back at Olympics in Rio
LONDON — British football teams could be back at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro next year.

LONDON — British football teams could be back at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro next year.
A team was fielded at the Olympics in London in 2012 for the first time since 1960, but it was planned to be a one-off.
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland fear losing their independence within FIFA.
However, the English Football Association, which runs the Olympic teams, has written to its Scottish, Northern Irish and Welsh counterparts asking if they want to participate.
The British Olympic Association says it has “received confirmation from the FA of their intention to enter into the qualification process for Rio 2016 for both men and women’s tournaments.”
The top four teams in the men’s under-21s European champion qualify, as do the top three European teams in the women’s World Cup. AP
