Euro 2016 final to be screened at 34 CCs islandwide

SINGAPORE — Eight more community clubs (CCs) islandwide will be screening the 2016 UEFA European Championship final between France and Portugal on Monday (July 11) at 3am, the People’s Association (PA) announced on Friday (July 8).

The eight new CCs in the list are: Bukit Batok East CC, Changi Simei CC, Hougang CC, Nee Soon South CC, Pasir Ris Elias CC, Punggol 21 CC, Woodlands CC and ZhengHua CC.

This brings the total number of CCs screening the game to 34. At the start of the tournament, 26 CCs had offered free screenings to the public.

To date, almost 100,000 football fans have attended screenings of Euro 2016 games at the CCs, said the PA.

Mr Dick Hui, grassroots volunteer and Chairman of Tampines West Community Sports Club said: ”It is rewarding to see residents from all walks of life coming to the CC to catch their favourite teams in action, cheer together, and make new friends.”

He added: “Despite the long and early-morning screenings, many of our volunteers were happy to be able to do their part to ensure that these screenings went well. It certainly paid off seeing that the residents had enjoyed themselves.”
