SINGAPORE — Navy serviceman Jason Chee is showing off a nice surprise he got in the mail. It was a letter to him from Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, sending him best wishes from everyone at Arsenal Football Club. The Frenchman wrote that he had recently been informed of Mr Chee’s injury.
“I have also been told that you are an avid Arsenal supporter,” Mr Wenger wrote. “We are extremely grateful for this.”
Military Expert (ME) 2 Chee lost three limbs in an accident on board a navy ship a year and a half ago. He went back to work in June, as Operations Supervisor at Changi Navy Base with the 191 Squadron.
A clearly overjoyed Mr Chee posted the letter from Mr Wenger on his Facebook page along with pictures of autographed memorabilia, saying he “really cannot believe it”. The self-professed Gunners die-hard fan since he was 14 says he has rooted for the likes of Thierry Henry, Alexis Sanchez and his favourite, Marc Overmars.
“Want to take this opportunity to say a BIG BIG BIG THANKS for the best wishes that your Arsenal team have given to me!” he wrote. He also congratulated them on their 3-0 Community Shield win over Manchester City. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
