S-League inks deal to mark 20th season

SINGAPORE — The Great Eastern-Yeo’s S-League marked its 20th season with a five-year extension of its partnership with Polar Natural Mineral Water as its official water supplier worth more than S$2 million in cash and kind until 2019.
The deal between the Football Association of Singapore (FAS), S-League and Field Catering & Supplies Pte Ltd — which distuributes the drink — was signed yesterday at the Home United Youth Football Academy, which also hosted the S-League Futsal Fanfare competition.
Defending league champions Warriors FC and RHB Singapore Cup winners Balestier Khalsa will get the 2015 Great Eastern-Yeo’s S-League season underway with the Charity Shield curtain raiser on March 1 at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
It will go to a penalty shoot-out to decide the winner if the result finishes level at full-time. The match is also the opening game of the S-League season, with league points awarded after 90 minutes.
Said FAS president Zainudin Nordin: “Moving forward, we will be conducting a Strategic Review of the S-League on how we can further improve the league and its future direction. We will be involving all stakeholders in this review, as well as the public.”
