Safuwan’s goal cancelled out Pablo Sanchez’s 32nd minute opener for Adelaide. Further goals from Josh Kennedy (55th) and Iain Ramsay (87th) secured victory for Melbourne.
The performance is likely to help the chances of Safuwan, who is on a three-month loan stint from Singaporean side LionsXII, securing a permanent deal with Melbourne City, where head coach John van’t Schip has been impressed with him so far.
