Sheringham, Matthaus to face off in England-Germany Masters clash in S’pore in November

SINGAPORE – Former top England and Germany internationals will be in action at the National Stadium on Nov 12 as England Masters take on Germany Masters in a friendly match. The 11-a-side, 80-minute game - hailed as the Battle of Europe 2016 - is organised by Masters Football Asia (MFA).

SINGAPORE – Former top England and Germany internationals will be in action at the National Stadium on Nov 12 as England Masters take on Germany Masters in a friendly match.

The 11-a-side, 80-minute game - hailed as the Battle of Europe 2016 - is organised by Masters Football Asia (MFA).

The England team will feature former Premier League stars such as Teddy Sheringham, Darren Anderton, Steve McManaman, Emile Hesky and Des Walker while the Germany side will be represented by former

FIFA World Player of the Year Lothar Matthaus, defender Guido Buchwald, former Bayern Leverkusen defender Jens Nowotny and former Liverpool stalwart Dietmar Hamann.

Said Sheringham in a media release: “Representing England is always a great honour and my games with the team have all been so memorable. It’s a brilliant opportunity for us to get together and play for England again, especially against a great team like Germany. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Hamann, who will be facing former Liverpool teammate McManaman, said: “I can’t wait to be on the pitch again and face off against Steve instead of playing alongside him!

Masters Football Asia chief executive officer Steven Black said: “We’re always looking at ways to up the ante and to create exciting content for football fans. Inspired by the recently concluded European Championships, we thought we would bring an internationally renowned football rivalry to the National Stadium to thank the public for the great support they have given us over the years.”

Tickets start from S$19. Family packages (two adults & two children below the age of 12) and VIP Packages are available at S$100 and S$200 respectively.
