SINGAPORE — S.League side Albirex Niigata will be sending two secondary school students for a one-week training session with their parent club in Japan.
Swiss Cottage Secondary School student Muhammad Danial Mohammad Feroz and Hong Kah Secondary School’s Tan Yu Hen, both 13, were picked from the Yuhua Albirex Football Academy (YAFA) for the trip because of their “outstanding commitment and potential”, said a press release by the defending S.League champions.
Danial and Yu Hen will spend one week training at the Albirex Niigata Football School alongside its Under-12 and junior youth squads, while also being immersed in other cultural activities such as a traditional Japanese summer festival.
The two youths will also get to watch an official J-League match between Albirex Niigata and Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
The Yuhua Albirex Football Academy was set up in 2014 to provide football training to children aged 5 to 14 years old in Yuhua Single Member Constituency (SMC). The programme has since benefited approximately 600 boys and girls.
