SINGAPORE — The SEA Games under-23 football competition will start with Brunei meeting Vietnam in their Group B fixture on May 29 at Bishan Stadium.

Hosts Singapore will kick-off their campaign three days later in a potentially tricky clash against the Philippines at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

Both teams are in Group A along with the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia and Myanmar, while Group B consists of Thailand, Malaysia, Laos and Timor Leste.

Singapore assistant coach S Subramani said the team is aiming to get a good start to the tournament, but added: “The Philippines are an unknown quality. They didn’t play in the previous SEA Games and this is why it is even more important not to underestimate them.”

“We know they will be getting huge support from the sizeable Filipino community here, so our hope is our own fans will be able to outnumber them at Jalan Besar.”

Singapore will next play Myanmar on June 4, followed by Cambodia four days later, before wrapping up their group fixtures against Indonesia on June 11.

Both semi-finals will take place at the National Stadium on June 13, with the final and bronze-medal matches scheduled to take place on June 15.

The full fixtures for basketball were also released yesterday. For ticketing details and the full fixtures for both sports, please visit http://www.seagames2015.com. Noah Tan
