SUNDERLAND – Sunderland winger Jeremain Lens scored and was then sent off as West Ham rescued a 2-2 draw yesterday (Oct 3) in the Premier League.

Lens chipped the goalkeeper from just outside the area to make it 2-0 to Sunderland in the 22nd minute, after Steven Fletcher had opened in the scoring in the 10th.

Carl Jenkinson pulled a goal back on the stroke of halftime for West Ham, and Lens was then given a second booking in the 57th.

West Ham, which had a 100 per cent away record going into the game, made the most of the man advantage by levelling three minutes later. Sunderland goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon could only parry Manuel Lanzini’s effort and Dimitri Payet fired the rebound into the bottom right corner. AP
