SINGAPORE – The Great Eastern Women’s Run (GEWR), Asia’s largest all-women run, will return to Singapore on Nov 13, with registration for the event kicking off on Monday (Aug 1).

The GEWR, which recently won the Best Local Sports Event of the Year gong at the 2016 Singapore Sports Awards, will feature four race categories: the 5km, 10km, 21.1km half marathon and corporate team.

The popular Princess Dash for young girls aged between three to nine years old will also make a return this year, and spectators can expect to catch colourful sights of the young participants – dressed in their tutus – running in the 100m fun dash alongside their mothers.

“Great Eastern has long been a strong proponent of empowering women to live healthily and our annual run is one of the key platforms which we harness to reach out to women of all ages and all walks of life,” said Keith Chia, Great Eastern’s Head of Brand and Customer Experience.

Added Jeffrey Foo, director of Infinitus Productions, the race organiser appointed by Great Eastern: “The GEWR has won multiple awards in recent years, (and this is) testament to the high quality and standard of the event. Our priority is to ensure that we continue to organise a safe and enjoyable run for all participants.”

This year’s GEWR will also see the event collaborating with local fashion label KLARRA on an exclusive scarf designed by founder Beatrice Tan. Proceeds from the sale of the limited edition scarf will go toward the Breast Cancer Foundation and the Women’s Health Research and Education Fund.

Participants can also do their part for charity with the “Don A Tutu For A Cause” initiative by making a minimum donation of S$5 for a tutu in the colour of one of the event’s beneficiaries.

Early-bird registration for the GEWR begins on Monday and ends on Aug 14, while the normal registration period will run till Sep 30. Participants who make payment with their OCBC Great Eastern Cashflo credit card will get a further 10 per cent discount on their registration fees.
