MOSCOW – Singapore sprinter Calvin Kang has qualified for the heats of the men’s 100m at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow after winning his preliminary round race this morning (Aug 10).

The 23-year-old equalled his personal best of 10.52sec and will now compete in the heats in a few hours’ time (12.15am, Sunday morning, Singapore time).

“I’m very thankful that I did it in the morning race as it gives me a good mental advantage for round 1 tonight,” said Kang who has taken a year off his studies at Nanyang Technological University to train full-time.

“I’m going to keep my excitement but will stay relaxed. I want to keep the adrenaline and at the same time not tire my mind for the next race.”
