Logistics centre for SEA Games opens

SINGAPORE — The Singapore South-east Asian Games Organising Committee (SINGSOC) have officially opened the SINGSOC Logistics Centre at Tanjong Penjuru today (April 7).

SINGAPORE — The Singapore South-east Asian Games Organising Committee (SINGSOC) have officially opened the SINGSOC Logistics Centre at Tanjong Penjuru today (April 7).

Located at the headquarters of local logistics company CWT Limited, the centre will be the key warehousing and logistics support venue for the June 5 to 16 Games.

CWT’s value in kind sponsorship will see them providing monthly warehouse space of 17,000 sq ft and storage space for 11,000 pallets over a 12-month period. The centre will also handle up to 53,000kg of air freight and 1,350 cubic metres of sea freight.

As part of the partnership, CWT will also provide full supply chain management and supporting logistics services including manpower and transportation.

“The SINGSOC Logistics Centre is the backbone of the Games’ operations,” said SINGSOC exco chairman Lim Teck Yin. “All in all, the centre will store, manage and move 1,642 tonnes of sports equipment, fittings and general supplies. With CWT’s expertise and track record in logistics, we are assured of efficient and secure supply chain management. This partnership is fundamental to delivering a successful Games.”

As a leading provider of integrated logistics solutions, we will be able to tap on our domain knowledge, resources and network to ensure that logistics challenges under demanding time frames are met.”

More than 7,000 athletes and officials from 11 South-east Asian countries are expected to be at the Games, which will feature 402 events across 36 sports.
